Good, Better and Best

I attended a nutrition workshop last year that completely, totally, 100% (and then some) changed my life + the way I view nutrition. I've struggled with my eating habits for years- i've tried everything from prepackaged meals, to calorie counters, to points systems and back again- but nothing worked.
Then I heard my nutrition coach talk about the idea of "good, better, best". She said to think about the food you are eating in terms of fuel that is "good, better or best" for your body, on that particular day.
For example, for breakfast this morning, I knew my *best* opption would be a smoothie packed with superfoods- but I woke up late and couldn't get one made. So I went with my *good* option- black iced coffee and oatmeal from Starbucks. Quick, easy and I made it to my office on time.
When I think about food as fuel and specifically as "good, better or best", I am able to make changes to my lifestyle that would otherwise be too confusing to manage. I don't beat myself up and I keep building the momentum I need to keep moving forward. This one concept has completely overhauled my life!
It's my *official* coach philosophy.
